An asylum seeker in Melbourne calmly walks into a bank with petrol and sets it on fire injuring and burning staff and customers.

A 22-year-old asylum seeker named Nur Islam from Myanmar was caught on CCTV walking into a bank with petrol and igniting it causing major damage and casualties.

His excuse for the incident was that he was “waiting too long in the queue” so he returned to the bank with petrol and set the bank on fire. The staff and customers did all they can to try and stop the fire and many were burned in the incident.

He stated that “he did not want to hurt anyone but wanted to make a point because of waiting too long to be served”. He was charged with 108 offences in total. One of the bank’s employees was engulfed in a fireball and had to have burn treatment.

Nur Islam caused $3 million dollars worth of damage in the bank and it was lucky that no one was killed. He will stand trial in Victoria Melbourne later this week.

The video is below where you can see the chaos erupting when he enters the bank and sets fire to the petrol with a lighter that he takes out of his pocket. Apparently, Nur Islam suffered the worst burns and injuries after setting fire to 11 litres of petrol that he purchased for $14.71 from a service station nearby.

He was hospitalised for 4 months having treatment for burns that covered most of his body. We will hopefully be able to find out the outcome of this incident and how he will be dealt with by the courts. Even though he was the most burnt, he could have killed dozens of people in that bank so he deserves a very harsh sentence so let’s hope the Australian legal system is not too lenient on him.
